Versatile
I have used these guys for a variety of projects. I first used them for dipole line arrays for my home listening room. Then I built personal monitors for musicians using ABS pipe. The most ambitious project was a pair of omnidirectional speakers for a church, each of which used 9 of these Auras arranged on a quarter hemisphere (approximated with flat facets). It needs some serious EQ because that arrangement results in a falling frequency response, but once EQ'ed, the frequency response is flat from 60 Hz to 8 kHz everywhere in the room. It's a good approximation to a point source, resulting in a coherent sound field that is clearer and much less confusing than widely-spaced forward-firing speakers.

You can get some serious volume with 18 of these driven by a big amp.

The omnis worked out so well, and I got so many compliments, that I then replaced the stage monitors with a similar 9-driver omni.

STELLAR... LIKE NO OTHER
I dont know why this site has abrely ANY reviews... maybe because everyone knows how good madisound and their products are, but thsi Aurasound NS3 is a MUST GET and perfect for a wide spectrum of projects. YOu cant anything quite this size with such a low frequency response, and it can be manipulates to go even lower. Makes a great range of sounds and hasn't flatted out on anything i tried it on. The excursion on thsi thing is also very fun to watch! :D

Amazing Aurasound NS3-193-4A
They're not kidding when they say this has amazing bass for a 3" speaker. I built a set of speakers based on the Madisound recommendations ("F3 of 85Hz: 2 to 3 liters sealed and stuffed") using a 1' length of 4" PVC pipe (2.3 liters) and they sounded great! Then I got ambitious and built a ported system: 4.3 liters (260 cu. in) net with a 1.5" port 9.5" long. The "cabinet" is an 11" length of 6" PVC pipe. The calculator says F3 is about 47Hz! I added a 4 ohm tweeter (not from Madisound, sorry!, but my next build is going to use the Hi-Vi TN25). I used a 5000 Hz 1st order crossover (Madisound 0.1mH inductor and a clearance 10 microfarad cap.) They sound absolutely great! They don't take much power to drive to reasonable listening levels and look way cool.
