"Sten II" MTM Speaker Kit by Curt's Speaker Design Works - Drivers & Crossovers

Madisound would like to thank Curt Campbell and Wayne Wendel for this design and their overall contribution to the DIY speaker building community.

Each speaker uses two Aurasound NS6-255-8A 6" paper cone woofers teamed up with a Vifa BC25SC06-04 1" textile dome tweeter in MTM configuration. These speakers are designed for use in 2-channel stereo and Home Theater systems, or as a compliment to the larger Stentorians.

The crossovers come fully assembled on a 64B circuit board and the parts hold to the exact values of the design. The mid/woofer section includes a low resistance 2.7 mH Sledgehammer 15 awg Steel Laminate inductor and 10.0 mfd polypropylene capacitor. The tweeter section includes a 10.0 mfd Bennic polypropylene capacitor, a 5.6 ohm Mundorf MOX resistor and 0.10 mH air core inductor.

Each Sten II Kit Includes Drivers & Crossovers for a stereo pair of speakers:

• (4) Aurasound NS6-255-8A 6" Paper cone woofers
• (2) Vifa BC25SC06-04 1" textile dome tweeters
• (2) Professionally Assembled Crossovers (see schematic)

Other parts to consider:

• (1-2 pounds) Acousta-Stuf, Long Haired Wool, or Poly Fill - internal damping material of your choice
• (2) Input Cups + (8) OX6OVAL3/4 - or - (4, 2R & 2B) Binding Posts
• (14 feet) Supra Classic 1.6 15 awg internal speaker wire
• (40) OX6PAN3/4 Philips Head screws - or - OXSOCKET6X3/4 Hex Head screws - mount drivers to enclosure
• (12 feet) Foam Gasket Tape - for airtight seal of drivers to enclosure
• (6) QC110 Black Quick Connects - for (-) tabs on woofers and tweeters
• (12) QC187 Red Quick Connects - for (+) tabs on the woofers, tweeter, and crossovers
• (6) QC187 Black Quick Connects - for the (-) tabs on the crossovers
• Order an additional 2 red and 2 black QC187's if you purchase input cups or binding posts and you don't plan on soldering

The Stentorian drivers, tweeters, and assembled crossovers are also available at a discounted price. Please select from the drop down menu above. If you select the Stentorian option, you will be shipped 12 woofers, 2 tweeters, and 2 assembled crossovers. The assembled crossovers use similar quality parts to the Sten II.
