Smooth & Clean Tweeter
Reviewed by NeilBlanchard on 01/07/2023
The response of this tweeter is amazingly smooth and extended - it is nearly flat to above 20kHz and hits 30kHz only a few dB down. It also has a relatively low Fs of 960Hz, which helps it be crossed over smoothly. I really like the off axis response - it rolls off gently and extends to about 15kHz well off axis, which helps it "disappear".
A less obvious feature of this tweeter, is the smaller diameter face plate; which lets it be mounted closer to the woofer/midrange. This gets the acoustic centers closer together, and can help the soundstage and imaging of the speaker.
This tweeter is excellent, and is a wonderful value. It is a soft dome tweeter that meets a very high level of performance.
I am using it with an equally excellent woofer from SB Acoustics, the SB16PFCR25-4 ( https://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/approx-6-7-woofers-sb-acoustics/sb-acoustics-sb16pfcr25-4-6-paper-cone-woofer-4-ohm-round/) ; in a mass loaded transmission line speaker.
The build manual for the MLTL-6 stand mount speaker is available here:

I have the XSim response graphs on my website; that show how well this tweeter works.

Great.

Running these in a vehicle, active, crossed at 2200 with a 24db slope, with a good amount of power. They get painfully loud while staying clear, I had to turn them down. Great smooth sound.
Very nicely engineered!

Just a very nice package, well made and engineered makes for a great sounding unit that integrates with many different drivers and at a low Frequency if need be. OH, what a nice price too! DEAL OF THE CENTURY... For a low priced dome tweeter. You cant go wrong trying any of the SB Acoustics drivers but this one is a leader in what a inexpensive tweeter should be!
Ever since SBA started up I have been buying there drivers in many different DIY configurations with much success! There upper Santory line is filled with Top Of The Line drivers that will give you the sweet sound you always dreamed about but seldome achieve and there lower line has continued to impress and prove that they are here to stay and they are one of the best current line of dollar to sound value!

Amazing tweeters even for car audio.

Purchased these after hearing about the amazing reviews from the home theatre gurus based on their flat response, low crossover ability, and off-axis response.
Boy, was I surprised. These went in to (hesitantly) replace a pair of DLS iridiums in the stock dash panels of an acura facing up at the windshield. Not an ideal mounting location, but they fit and, oh goodness, do they sound glorious.
Have them fed off a DLS amplifier with a modest 75 watts RMS in an active system crossed at 2.5khz 3rd order paired with 6.5" silver flutes. The accuracy, flatness, detail, and soundstage absolutely destroyed my old DLS MS6a components. The soundstage is what surprised me the most, considering they are basically 90 degrees off axis firing into the windshield. Used some time alignment tweaking and everything is golden.
I'd recommend these to anyone looking for audiophile level quality at a ridiculous budget price. I still can't believe you can score a pair of these for under $70, and they'll pretty much blow any component system tweeter out of the water sans some high end sets costing 5-7x more.
I most especially appreciated them not being as 'harsh' at higher volume levels...definitely not fatiguing. Can't wait to feed them 100-150 watts rms to see what these things can do.

Used these in an mobile audio application to replace a couple polk tweeters with similar parameters. Night and day difference dropped right into the passive set even with the existing x-over's.
Clear, detailed, and flat response. Noticeably better off-axis response too.
I no longer have a peaky, distortion-prone sound coming from my high end. Love it.
Hard to beat these for the price.

I used this in an auto sound application. I have the $400-500+ Hertz HSK-165 component set and was overpowering the set. The left tweeter gave out. Replaced the expensive Hertz HT 25's with these $35 tweeters and my music sounds at least as good. Great imaging Handles a lot of power, can get very loud if that's what you need, and it has noticeably superior off axis response. If you need a smaller format/flange tweeter, especially for car audio use, I recommend this 100%. I have them high passed 2nd order-12db/octave at 3.2kHz, and it has an incredibly smooth response all the way up to beyond human hearing range. There is a minor dip in the response centered at 2.8kHz that is inaudible when crossed at 3.2kHz 2nd order, but this is still shockingly smooth for this price range. Even when looking at tweeters double the price, you'd be hard pressed to find a response curve this smooth.
