ScanSpeak Illuminator D3004/6020-00 Tweeter Textile Dome

Tweeters in sq can be very hard to get right, but with these I was not dissapointed at all. I would describe them as smooth and rich with no harshness. Definitely give them some break in time and they level out nicely. They sound correct for their price range and would say it is a good deal. Madisound did a great job on fast delivery.

I'll make my review short on this...

I've used these tweeters off and on in my car for years. I've suggested them to many as well. What this tweeter gives you is this:

Excellent distortion values with <0.50% THD above 1.3kHz and a low Fs making this a great option for 2-way systems where crossing a tweeter low (in the 2khz region) is necessary to keep a good polar response with a standard sized midwoofer.

Frequency response could use some work. The linearity isn't too great, with the trough in the 2-5khz region embellished by the high Q resonance and the rising response above 5khz (typical of most dome tweeters in this size). The on-axis dip at about 14khz is less severe as you trend off-axis.
However, what I like about this tweeter in this regard is with DSP, the response above 5khz can be leveled out some to match the trough below this, and the high Q resonance will be lessened with a typical crossover. Doing this would bring your average sensitivity down to around 85dB but you still have very low distortion and a tweeter than can cross over lower than most of it's counterparts.

At 30 degrees off-axis this driver is relatively flat. This combined with it's small size makes it a solid choice for car audio systems where the tweeter may be installed in a sail panel or a-pillar and thus need to be turned off-axis from the listener.

Overall, what I like most is it's ability to cross low and with a DSP, I can ignore the rising response; I'd rather have that than jagged response all over.

Product review of D3004/6020-00, 'These are quite simply the best tweeters I have ever heard or used. I have them mounted at a slight angle in the sail panels of my car, with the driver's side tweeter aimed at the passenger's side window and vice-versa. The imaging is superb, with a soundstage that is much wider and taller than the car. With good SQ source material, the placement of instruments is very precise and results in a holographic soundstage. Some of this has to do with placement, but a lot of this has to do with the tweeter itself. The sound is velvety smooth and effortless, without any trace of harshness. There is top end clarity and &quot;air&quot; that is revealing without being overwhelming. Some tweeters image well but lack the clarity and high end sparkle. Other tweeters are very revealing but obnoxiously so - basically overpowering the rest of the frequency range and making it difficult to seamlessly blend the tweeter with the rest of the drivers in the system. The build quality is superb, just as you would expect from a well regarded driver manufacturer such as Scanspeak. These tweeters were a little pricey when they first came out but at Madisound's current prices are real bargains. Product review of D3004/6020-00, 'Sound overall is extremely deep and rich detailed but in the same time soft and pleasant to listen. I like this tweeters design and very impressed by build quality. With Madisound's customer care, fast shipping, post-proof packaging you get nothing but positive emotions. Several days ago, installation of this tweeters in custom made holders on sail panels of my car have been made. Right tweeter is pointed on driver's nose and left is a little bit righter passenger's headrest. On head unit I set 2'nd order HPF with 3.15 kHz cut-off frequency. Everyone is very impressed by improved clarity, more accurate staging and overall softer tone balance. Sound stage is very accurate, wider than the car and rock-solid stable no matter how you move your head.
