Astonishing Sound
This is my first set of DIYs and hardly ever going back to retail. I live outside the US and did not get the enclosures, so I had to build them myself. Great experience as first timer. All was guided by Zaph's page. Let the man guide you. He knows better. I built the front stage of my HT (center channel ZA5.3). Integration is awesome and seamless. In stereo (no center channel). image and soundstage are exceptional. Great detail, smooth transients, crystal clear highs. Very good low-end, though a subwoofer is more than welcome. After having used many different brands (JBL, Boston Acoustics, Yamaha), I finally hear great detail from reasonably priced speakers. These babies are keepers. Even a second pair is on its way to get it for my parent's living room. I will recommend these speakers to anyone who wants to have great sound without having to break the bank. Also going for a DIY subwoofer to make things even better. Future plans include a tower system using the same drivers. Thanks Madisound for putting all stuff together.

Wow!
I don't know why, but I still prefer the sound of my floor standing two way system for pure music listening. This probably has more to do with placement of the speakers more than anything.
My boxes are made to specified internal dimensions using 3/4" MDF and a 3 mm laminated layer of Lyptus. Rear surrounds are ceiling mounted ~11' from the center listening position in horizontal orientation, with the tweeters away from the walls. I have an odd shaped room with vaulted ceilings, so standing waves are not an issue. Front channels are 5' off the ground and rather close to the wall. I worried about these non-ideal placements for too long - and for very little purpose. Any improvements to be had by placing these speakers differently would be significantly outweighed by the realities every day life and the multi-purpose use of this room. Build em, place them reasonably close to where they should be, let the receiver tune out the delays, relax and enjoy...
