The Revelator midranges are well known for their sliced paper cone technology. The slices are filled with damping glue which dramatically reduces break-up modes in the diaphragm. In combination with the Scan-Speak's low-loss linear suspension and the patented Symmetrical Drive (SD-1). it represents a breakthrough in midrange clarity and overall smooth frequency response characteristics. The Revelator woofers and subwoofers feature very rigid cones in paper or aluminium that operate as a piston over a wide frequency range, in combination with Scan-Speak's low-loss linear suspension and the patented Symmetrical Drive (SD-1) results in very low distortion and a smooth and well behaved frequency response as well as perfect transient reproduction.

Most revealing Mid Range I've ever heard.

I still haven't finished the speaker with these drivers but I did extensive testing with it. I paired it with two scanspeak 7" revelatory woofers and the CSS LDX25X tweeter. The tweeter couldn't keep up with the volume that the rest of it could achieve but when played at reasonable levels it was amazing. This mid range driver is incredibly flat (+/-2db) from the baffle loss area around 500Hz up to 6 or 7Khz. I had a small dip around 2.5KHz but that was a baffle problem (not the driver). This speaker measures accurate to what scanspeak says and it is definitely a highly sensitive speaker (92db) as they say. I tried many different crossover points and the mid range was always more revealing than any other speaker I have designed. The 7" size is slightly difficult give that it beams at a low frequency point and this necessitates a tweeter that goes pretty low (I'm looking at 1.5KHz now). But sitting on axis of this speaker, you can hear every detail. The problem with this is that you can clearly hear any bump or dip in frequency. Even a 2db peak or dip is obvious. It's wild. Scanspeak is incredibly. This speaker also punches really well. I had it in about a 14 liter sealed enclosure to keep it away from the woofers. This driver, along with the Scanspeak 4.5" illuminator are the best mid range drivers I've ever heard.
