The T500A MKIII has been reborn as the highest grade horn super tweeter offered by Fostex. This limited edition model employs a newly developed ring-shaped pure magnesium diaphragm, precision cut solid brass horn and equalizer, with a low distortion design Alnico internal magnetic circuit.

Adding the T500A MkIII extending the super-high frequency over 20kHz, your speaker system will improve in sound quality and play music with improved expressiveness from high to low frequency ranges.

Features

Ring-shaped pure magnesium diaphragm

The newly developed ring-shaped pure magnesium diaphragm has low squeal peculiar to metal, and realizes penetrating ultra-high frequency reproduction by adjusting the material thickness to optimize the surface treatment.

Brass horn and equalizer with platinum coating

Precision cut cylindrical shape solid brass horn and equalizer are fitted.
Platinum coated surface offers a natural and high transparent sound.

Alnico internal magnetic circuit

2 layers of Alnico magnets obtain a strong magnetic flux density.
The copper plated poll piece reduces the current distortion realizing a high definition audio reproduction.

Gold plated copper speaker terminals and copper silver alloy internal wiring

Input terminals use gold plated copper.
An extra-thick φ1.4mm copper silver alloy single wire is used for internal wiring to reduces sound deteriorations.

Tungsten diaphragm ring

Diaphragm ring to support the diaphragm is made of tungsten sheet that has high damping effect to reduce un-wanted vibrations and sound deteriorations.

Tweeter base with black finish

A tweeter base comes as a standard accessory, which firmly supports the heavy tweeter.
The base is finished in black.

Good job Fostex

I currently own pairs of the Fostex T90A, Fostex T900A, as well as the recently acquired Fostex T500A MK III. All three have seen service in a system with the same midrange horn while being driven by the same 4 watt single ended tube amp that’s also used for the midrange. Same bass driver and its cabinet has been used with all three as well. The T500A does the superlative jobs of extending the treble and blending with the midrange (successfully beyond my expectations). The midrange driver is a compression driver. All three Fostex tweeters used a first order crossover around or slightly under 6K. This spec is considerably below the Fostex specs for a crossover. Again, please note the amp’s rated wattage is quite low.
The tweeter’s finish is outstanding. The business end’s nearly chrome like appearance looks flawless and may not discolor like brass. Sorry if brass patina is something desired. Most of the barrel has the standard Fostex black paint appearance. Finish is at worst commensurate with cost. Happy about the finish level.
