SB Acoustics SB19ST-C000-4 3/4" dome tweeter, 4 ohm

I've been on the search for tweeters to upgrade my car system. Used several typical small auto system tweeters the likes of a/d/s, PPI, Infinity and for the past couple years have been pretty happy w some Focal TN-44s in the sail panels running two way active fronts plus a sub. I've made some pods for the A pillars so now I can switch tweeters rather easily, as well as aim them to account for off axis capabilty and try some larger format tweeters.
First were some NVX variant SB ring radiator tweeters which were smooth, detailed and a good match for the door mounted 6.5" SB midwoofers.
Next were some Vifa NE25VTS-04 which got good reviews at Parts Exp, but gave a dull tonality and flat,depthless image in my system.
Next I tried some Dayton RS28F 1 1/8" ers. These made for some big mother pods, but I had them in for a month because they gave a natural fullness to vocals that came closer to what my home tube amp system sounds like. Got these mounted asymmetrically aimed to the driver/my head to be maybe only 10 degrees off axis crossed over at 2000 hz with 24 db slopes. Coulda been happy with these but new tweeters kept coming in the mail.
Next were some small/medium titanium ones that I forget the numbers for, but are the ones Zaph uses in some of his speaker pacakges. These are suprisingly nice sounding with a lively yet still smooth detail and more apparent air than any or the others of this bunch. Nicely compsed and not harsh crossed over at 3.15 khz /24 db slopes. Might come back to this one. Its inexpensive, pretty small, gives great detail yet is still on the smooth side.
Ok so lastly this SB19 maybe 15 to 20 degrees off axis to the driver horizontally and vertically. Crossed over at 2.5khz with 24db slope. These are the best sounding so far in the system in terms of balancing tonality on both male and female vocals with the lively detail in the upper frequencies. Maybe because these are 3/4" tweeters my slightly off axis set up gives up little if anything in detail while seeming to give a deeper more defined soundstage. It is easier to zero in on settings with timealignment and driver level settings. Things just seem to lock in with these tweeters.
So long winded...in summary I could have been pretty happy with most of popularly reviewed tweeters, but I'm glad I ran my own listening tests cause these tweeters just gel in my system. I do have some Hiqaphon OW1 s waiting for pods, but I think I'm gonna stop and just listen.
