Scan-Speak 13M Midrange Replacement Speaker
Replacement for Scan-Speak 13M/8521, 13M/8636 or 13M/8640 Midrange
Scan-Speak 10F/8424G00 midrange mounted on a custom machined aluminum faceplate.
The specifications and response curve of the 10F/8424G is very close to the original and long discontinued Scan-Speak midranges. PBN Audio uses these as replacements for the 13M/8636 in their legacy speakers and speak glowingly of the results.
The faceplate has been made to the dimensions of a 13M midrange frame and is a drop in replacement. No mechanical or crossover changes are needed.
This is the best known replacement for Scan-Speak 13M drivers.
Note from customer on the Thiel CS3.5:
"Perfect fit! As I suspected, the original had a 1/4" additional plastic faceplate to accommodate the tweeter cut out. Since the replacement does not have the additional ring it sits deeper in the recess, therefore no interference with the tweeter. Speaker sits at the same depth as the original. No modifications necessary.
Been playing for over 2 weeks now. The replacement is far superior than the original, cosmetically a little different. My recommendation, replace the original 13M because build quality is suspect. I have had them rebuilt or replaced about 5 times. Thanks guys!"
