Satori is a Buddhist term for enlightenment. The word literally means "understanding". Satori translates as a flash of awareness. Satori drivers are designed for subtlety and realism.
- Vented aerodynamic cast aluminum chassis for optimum strength and low compression
- Proprietary cone material with EGYPTIAN PAPYRUS fibres made in-house
- Soft low damping rubber surround for optimum transient response
- Advanced BIMAX spider for improved linearity
- Powerful optimized low distortion neodymium motor system
- Non-conducting fibre glass voice coil former for minimum damping
- Extended copper sleeve on pole piece for low inductance and reduced distortion
- CCAW voice coil for reduced moving mass
- Long life silver lead wires attached 180° apart for improved stability
- Vented pole piece for reduced compression
- High piston to chassis diameter ratio
- Gasket and bolt hole protrusions for reduced coupling to speaker cabinet
Here are some box alignments you might consider using.
- For a sealed box try 0.1 cubic foot (2.8 liters) with 25% filling for F3 of about 128Hz.
- In 0.18 cubic foot (5 liters) with a 1" vent by 3.75" long your F3 is about 75Hz.
- In an extended bass shelf of 0.25 cubic foot (7 liters) with a 1" vent by 3.75" long your F3 is about 85Hz and F6 is about 50Hz.

Exceptional!

These Satori drivers are beautifully made, beautiful looking and even nicely packaged. They were relatively easy to shape into 2nd order LR slopes at 375Hz and 2600Hz for my three-way. The breakup peak at 9k does need attention, but a simple small cap and resistor across the low pass coil worked very well. If handled correctly in the xo, the sound is detailed, transparent and transient with a slightly spicy tone.
Now, if I had only waited a couple of months to buy them I would have saved $25 at the current price. Be that as it may, they are an exceptional value at the price I payed and are bordering on a steal at the current price.

Great performance!

I run a speaker driver test website and recently tested these drivers. You can see the review here:

I purchased these with the intention of using them in my car as a dedicated midrange in a 3-way system. I liked the build quality of them, and I had seen the performance of the 6" version some time ago. Figuring that engineering had trickled down to this driver, I gave it a shot.
Ultimately what I wound up with from my test results are this is a very well behaved driver with a relatively low modal issue about 2 octaves from a typical crossover point. The shining point for this driver is the extremely low distortion levels. Even at 102dB at 1 meter the THD between 150Hz - 8kHz is around 0.30%. That's just incredible. While I would prefer a flatter response overall to make mating with a tweeter a bit easier, I rank this driver a solid '4' out of '5'.
Subjectively, I've been using this in my car for the past couple weeks and find it performs better for my needs (300hz - 2.5khz at high output levels, actively crossed via DSP) better than any other midrange driver I've used to date, which includes the family of Scan-Speak Revelator 12m, 15m and 15w in addition to various other drivers.
While 5 midrange drivers aren't as popular as 3-4" midranges or 6.5" midwoofers, I feel this product fits the niche I needed perfectly with outstanding distortion parameters and very usable frequency response.
