The new Satori Beryllium dome tweeter has arrived! Beryllium is known for its open and spatial sound, often described as holographic. The self-damping properties of Beryllium allow for an extended response without a huge spike in the response at higher frequencies seen in most metal dome tweeters. While all dome materials have a different tonal and spatial presentation, Beryllium makes a real positive difference, providing an experience unlike all other dome materials.

Outstanding replacement for Meridian DSP loudspeakers

I recently bought a pair of used DSP6000 loudspeakers and a DSP5500HC on eBay, and was dismayed to find that the original SEAS tweeters had seized (likely due to dried ferrofluid) and were producing zero output (I'll fix those with new ferrofluid later.) After some research, I found that these Satori tweeters have (+- 1mm) the exact dimensions and bolt pattern of the original SEAS units! I needed to use a Dremel to route a small notch in the cabinets on one side (very minor) and they dropped right in and were secured with the same screws. One of the most expensive upgrades was to take any Meridian speaker to "SE" specifications, which involved a beyrillium tweeter upgrade. These tweeters effectively give you that same experience for tens of thousands less! They sound fantastic. These tweeters give you everything that is on the recording with no embellishment, and no added harshness. If the recording is very good, these things sound real. If a recording isn't good, you can hear it but aren't unduly punished by additional tweeter breakup. These things are flat with no breakup to over 40kHz, so you'll be able to get all of the harmonics that the Meridian 96/24 electronics are providing. To match these perfectly, I trimmed the tweeters by 2dB in the calibration menu - some attenuation was already provided by the higher impedance (8Ω vs 6Ω for the original tweeters.) About a year ago I built a simple 6" vented 2-way using Satori components. I was very pleased with the results. Recently I upgraded the already excellent Satori soft dome tweeter to the TW29-B. An immediate and significant increase in resolution, detail, airiness, and sense of space! Seamless integration with the woofer, and none of the harshness that is sometimes associated with metal domes and ribbons. Highly recommended!
