SB Acoustics SB26STAC-C000-4 1" Textile Dome Tweeter

Paired with SB17 paper cones in a BP10B rebuild. Active crossover (minidsp flex eight) and powered by hypex ncores. Currently crossed at 2khz 4th order LR.
They are 4mm smaller in faceplate diameter than the typical 104mm domes ubiquitous across the industry, but the holes match right up with those of the rebadged old vifa domes in the deftechs. The tiny gap was solved with the excellent felt rings Madisound also carries (at an absurdly good price for 2025 I might add!).
Compared to the decent old vifas these things are absolutely stunning. The closest comparison I can draw is to my friends Dynaudio Confidence 4s with their twin Esotar2 tweeters. I am sure on principle that these are NOT better than esotars, however I cannot find any fault or aspect that is lacking. At a certain tier of tweeter differences on-axis become so small that if properly implemented only the most discerning ear can be picky. I'm in my early 30s, I have good ears but not good enough to pick these out of a lineup vs some very exotic tweeters. For what these cost they are a no brainer. Liquid, detailed, a depth that goes for miles. I haven't even gotten around to measurements for a proper tune + FIR implementation as the simple canned tune sounds so good! Highly, HIGHLY recommended. Glad I didn't splurge on Satori TW29s, though I'm sure they are better in many ways I am beyond satisfied with these! Thanks Madisound!!
Oh one note for anyone considering a BP10 restomod: nc112mp amps will happily drive the 1.6ohm dcr load presented by two of these in parallel. One of those highly specific bits of information probably only one or two people will ever need, but here it is lol.

Got this driver to replace a three way speaker system from the mid 80's. I didn't know its crossover points. However, the old tweeter was a 4ohm non vented 19mm soft dome design, which lead me to the conclusion the crossover point should be rather high (3000 hz or +).
So, I took a guess this SB would do the job of injecting "air" and liveness to the sound (the old driver had a somewhat sibilant and lacklustre, dirty sound).
And I guessed right! After some break in, this very nice buit tweeter sounds incredibly clean and open, transforming the old system totally. By the way, it's fast and very dinamic too!
I'm pretty knew to the DIY hobby, but I think that, with a better crossover and in an overall better speaker system design, this tweeter might work miracles!
