ZRT 2.5-Way  Zaph|Audio Revelator Tower - Parts Only - Pair

Price shown is for a PAIR

Madisound and Zaph Audio are pleased to offer the Zaph Revelator Tower. The ZRT has set the bar for easy to build high-end speaker kits. Once again, we would like to thank John Krutke for his design work and overall contribution to DIY speaker building. Full documentation of this design can be found on Zaph Audio.

The ZRT is an extremely versatile premium speaker kit utilizing Scan-Speak Revelator drivers. The 2.5-Way configuration is best as a larger ported tower design. For those planning to integrate with a sub, a smaller sealed box is also possible. The tweeter used is the extremely popular Scan-Speak Illuminator “AirCirc” D3004/6600 1" soft dome. The mid/bass drivers are the Scan-Speak 18W/8531G. This 7” slit paper cone driver is widely considered one of the best mid/bass units in existence. The combination of these drivers and Zaph’s design expertise has yielded a world-class speaker system.

The ZRT 2.5-Way tweeter crossover network uses ClarityCap CSA capacitors in series circuit, Solen Fast Caps in parallel circuit, Mundorf metal oxide resistors, and air core inductors (please note, the older-style SA caps are shown in the picture).

The woofer crossover consists of Sidewinder air core and Sledgehammer Steel Laminate inductors in series circuit, and Solen Fast Caps in the parallel circuit. The crossover holds to the exact DCR inductor values called for in the design. The remaining parts choice makes the most sense for the required values and high-end level of this kit.

These crossovers come assembled, with each mounted on their own Matrix circuit board. This allows for bi-amp/bi-wiring if desired, and flexibility in cabinet placement.

We do offer several crossover upgrade options from the drop down menu. Please note: the upgrade crossovers will come assmbled on larger circuit boards than the standard version. Goertz Copper Foil upgrade uses 16 awg for L8 and 12 awg for L14 to hit the target DCR values.

A ZRT 2-Way version is also available with a single 18W/8531G mid/bass driver. This configuration can be done in a ported 38 liter tower cabinet, or sealed in the 20 liter cabinet. See Zaph Audio for more details on both the ZRT 2-way and ZRT 2.5-way.

'In one word: Wow! I have been looking at these for quite some time. Comparing specs and visiting the Zaph Audio web site and looking at the charts. Visiting speaker manufacturers and looking at their charts. So in other words - doing all the homework. With the quality of the design and the components, I guessed it would work seamlessly together. I was right. These arrived well packed in 4 boxes and went together very easy and very quick. If you can turn a screwdriver you can build these. Soldering skills are also important, but that is easily learned. I've been soldering since I was 8, so it was nothing new. The directions are very well written. The components are excellent quality and fit and finish is outstanding. Now, they still need to break in, but using them on two completely different systems they sound gorgeous! Smooth and easy. One of the systems was a modern solid state Acom system. Rich and creamy as well as full bottom sound. The 2nd system was a tube system and while it's still breaking in as well (and why I bought these speakers) the sound was complete, entertaining and involving. I am anxiously awaiting a fully broken in and mellowed out system with these speakers as the center point.' Review by Jim Philopena. Posted by Madisound.

'I built these speakers as a custom in wall install 1.4 sealed speaker enclosures with egg crate foam and polyfill If you have ever wanted to build true audio file quality" You needn't research any further These are the ones!!!! I have been streaming music from Pandora internet radio for about 2 weeks now. We have been listening to these songs all our lives' right No I just THOUGHT I had heard all this music These speakers are truly outstanding. I can see that the custom 65 liter ported cabinets would almost be a standalone system. By the same token the md38 sealed towers with a little augmentation of a small subwoofer would work to. Mr. Krutke wasn't kidding when he said it just doesn't get much better than this!!!' Review by frank faulkner. Posted by Madisound.
