Seas Excel W16NX005 TPCD Cone 6" Woofer (E0115-08)
Metamodal TPCD cone is the second generation of the TPCD material which is engineered to have low weight, high stiffness and controlled damping. This is matched to an optimised suspension to give a smooth, extended frequency response.
One of the most significant audible benefits of TPCD diaphragms is the improved clarity and detail in the sound it produces, resulting in a more lifelike and realistic listening experience. Because TPCD is a very stiff and lightweight material, it can precisely reproduce the nuances and subtleties of the audio signal. This results in a clearer and more detailed sound, with improved imaging and separation between different instruments in the recording.
TPCD diaphragms are constructed using multiple thin layers of carbon fiber that are stacked and bonded together to form a lightweight and stiff diaphragm. Each layer is engineered to cover the full cone or just some small areas, so that they combined give stiffness to the areas we want stiffness and softer with more damping where that is needed. This construction technique results in a material that is much stiffer than traditional diaphragm materials like paper or plastic, while still maintaining a low mass and good internal damping.
- Titanium voice coil former with a long copper clad aluminium winding for excellent force transfer, transient sound reproduction and large linear excursion.
- An FEA optimised magnet system with precisely fitted copper parts for superb linearity, high power handling and low distortion.
- The extremely stiff and stable injection moulded metal basket keeps the critical components in perfect alignment.
- Large windows in the basket both above and below the spider reduce sound reflection, air flow noise and cavity resonance to a minimum.
- This combination results in improved clarity and finely detailed sound reproduction, for a more lifelike and realistic listening experience.
