Low Q, good for moderate vented box with good upper midrange.

Used in the highly regarded ZA-SR71 speaker kit!

Developed for use as a long throw high fidelity woofer or woofer/midrange unit.

Edge coated reed/paper pulp cone together with perfectly matched moving parts gives a smooth, extended frequency response.
Bumped back plate in the magnet system, together with the very long and lightweight copper clad aluminium voice coil, allow extreme coil excursion with low distortion.
Heavy copper ring below the T-shaped pole piece will reduce non linear and modulation distortion.
Extremely stiff and stable injection moulded metal basket keeps the critical components in perfect alignment.
Large windows in the basket both above and below the spider reduce sound reflection, air flow noise and cavity resonance to a minimum.

Suggested Alignments

Sealed box of 0.25 cubic feet for F3 of 97Hz.
Vented box of 0.5 cubic feet with a 2" diameter vent by 6" long for F3 of 53Hz.

Warm and resolute midrange, easy to kick out the break-up and response in crossover, precise and fast midbass and convincing low bass (this exceeded my expectations for a 6" driver). Scary high Xmax practicable within low perceptible distortions. Supports ear-splitting level of SPL (midbass-midrange) before turning undefined/unrefined, in fact far higher than my usual SPL usage.
I mated them with the famous and interesting DXT tweeter.

'I was attracted to the SEAS Prestige ER18RNX (H1456) 7" reed/paper cone woofer due to the cone materials, and I have not been disappointed by this siren call. Specifying Goertz air coil foil inductors and ClarityCap SA range poly caps, Madisound designed a LEAP X-over, with the whole MTM package giving breathtaking and incredible audio results. I used Vifa BC25TG15-04 tweeters and they are as sweet as can be. I mostly listen to classical orchestra, piano, and vocal recordings, and these speakers render an unbelievable "you are there" effect to more recent, well engineered CD's, with stunning back-to-front, side-to-side imaging. Of course this well damped speaker array is coupled with a world-class amp and CD player, but I am convinced it is that reed/paper driver cone combination that puts out the audio nirvana I am hearing from this system.'
