Scanspeak Discovery 18W/4434G-00, 7" Midwoofer, 4 ohm

Aluminium Chassis, Fiber Glass cone, NR rubber surround, Vented below spider

The GF series is designed for the discerning audiophile customer. To meet the needs of this audience, several new technologies were developed with the goal of lowering distortion and damping in the speaker. The coated fiberglass cone reduces vibration and standing waves, and the vented motor system minimizes power compression. The combined result is a very open and dynamic sound.

The 18W/4434G has the same frame size and should be considered as a replacement for the PL18WO09-04 or the MG18WK09-04.

Box suggestions:

0.2 cubic foot sealed box with 20% filling for F3 of 115Hz

0.45 cubic foot box with 2" vent by 6" long for F3 of 65hz

0.6 cubic foot box with 2" vent by 4" long for F3 of 56Hz

I Have 2x B&W DM604 Towers in my Home Theater. I Installed the ScanSpeak Discovery in my car, on the door, and sealed the door with Asphalt waterproffing membrane MAT.

The Bass from the B&W is slightly better, because it goes to 40hz, and the Scan-speak goes down to 50hz. ( and of course, the B&W has 3 Drivers + Tweeter ).

But i prefer the Scan-Speak sound, the mid frequency are the better that i ever heard.

I have Dayton RS180, and the Scan-Speak is so much Better!

I compared the Scan-Speak to Focal V30 midbass, and the Scan-Speak wins the battle in all ranges of frequency and detail.
